How to make bread pudding

Making this bread pudding is very easy and the result is incredible. We will use stale French bread, milk, eggs, sugar and vanilla essence. Mix French bread with milk and let it soak for 2 hours. Then, add eggs, sugar and vanilla essence, beating well. Pour into a mold with caramel on the bottom and greased sides and bake in a bain-marie at 180°C for 50 minutes. Let it cool, unmold and serve this wonderful bread pudding cold.

Bread Pudding Recipe Ingredients

  • 5 to 7 loaves of stale French bread
  • 1 liter of milk
  • 5 whole eggs
  • 2 and 1/2 cups of sugar 
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence  

Preparation method

  1. Start by breaking up the French bread into a bowl and add the milk and let it sit for the bread to absorb the liquid for at least 2 hours, ideally in the refrigerator. 
  2. After this time, add the eggs, sugar and vanilla essence to the mixture, beating everything with a mixer. If you don't have one, you can divide the ingredients into portions and beat them in a blender.
  3. Pour the batter into a loaf pan with caramel on the bottom and greased on the sides.
  4. Place the pan with the bread pudding in a baking tray with hot water and bake in a bain-marie in the oven preheated to 180 °C for about 50 minutes. 
  5. After baking, let the pudding cool before unmolding, serve chilled to enjoy this delicious bread pudding!
